Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)
We are a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (www.elca.org), the largest Lutheran church body in the United States. There are approximately 5.2-million members in the ELCA in nearly 11,000 congregations. The Churchwide offices are located in Chicago, IL, and our presiding bishop is the Reverend Mark Hanson.

Metropolitan New York Synod of the ELCA
The ELCA is comprised of 65 regional "synods" (similar to a diocese or district). Our synod is the Metropolitan New York Synod (www.metronysynod.com), whose offices are located in suite 1620 of The Interchurch Center, 475 Riverside Drive, in NYC. Our bishop is the Reverend Dr. Stephen Paul Bouman. There are approximately 235 congregations in the synod. The territory of the synod includes Long Island, the City of New York, and the southern tier of the State of New York.

West Nassau Conference
A conference is a geographical cluster of congregations within the regional synod. We are a member of the West Nassau Conference. Our partner congregations are Advent, Elmont; Ascension, Franklin Square; Christ, Floral Park; Christ, New Hyde Park; Church of Our Saviour, Manhasset; Gloria Dei, New Hyde Park; Our Saviour, Mineola; Our Savior, Glen Head; St. Andrew's, West Hempstead; St. James, Stewart Manor; St. Paul's, Valley Stream; and Trinity, Valley Stream. The conference chair is called a dean, and she or he serves as a liaison between the Bishop and the congregations. Our current dean is the Reverend Mr. Fred McElderry of St. Andrew's.

Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School
We are partners in ministry with approximately thirty area ELCA & LCMS congregations in owning and operating Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School, 131 Brookville Road, Brookville. Non-Lutherans, as well as youth from these parishes, are welcome to apply for admittance to this selective Christ-centered college preparatory. An entrance examination and interview is required. Please call (516) 626-1700 and ask for the admissions department. Dr. David Hahn is the Executive Director.
